Spanish in Bolivia

High up in the Andes mountain range lies Bolivia, a land-locked country also known as the "land of silver." Its unique geographical position - it has the highest capital city in the world, La Paz, and the highest navigable lake in the world, Titicaca - makes it a fascinating place to learn Spanish and study Andean cultures.
Bolivia as we know it today was founded in 1825; it formed part of the impressive Inca Empire until Spaniards conquered the territory in the mid-16th century. The country's name, after freedom fighter Simon Bolivar, is significant and representative of Bolivia's ever-polemical political situation. Bolivar established the nation and drew up its first constitution, one of the landmark documents of Latin American history.
