Where is it
Barcelona is the second biggest city of Spain, after the capital Madrid. It is situated in the northeast of Spain, in the Mediterranean coast. It has a population of 1.700.00, but this figure reaches almost 5 million in the metropolitan area. Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, and it is an important cultural and tourist destination: after Paris, London and Rome is the most visited European city in Europe.

Barri Gòtic or Ciutat Vella
It is in the center of the city, and it is the oldest part of the city. Modernist Barcelona and Gaudi architecture
Barcelona has a great modernist heritage, buildings and parks constructed between 1885 and 1950, some of them are World Heritage Sites, specialy those built by Gaudy: Park Güell, Palau Güell, Casa Milà, Casa Vicens, Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló, Palau de la Música Catalana are some of the most impressive examples you must visit.
La Boqueria
La Boquería is a large public market that offers a vast range of goods and produce. Inside the market you can also have wonderful tapas. Visit it in the morning, since many stalls and tapas bars close in the afternoon. It is a fantastic place.

Curiosity
Sagrada Familia is a different Roman Catholic Church designed by Gaudi, whose construction started in 1882 and today is still under construction. This colossal building is situated in the center of the city, and has become one of the most popular signs of identity of Barcelona. The cathedral is still in works (Gaudí died in 1926 and worked here until the end), and is expected to be finished in the first third of the 21st century. In 2010 it was completed the interior and took place a dedication ceremony of the Temple by Benedict XVI. It is really a must to visit this singular building.
