Eating in Maceio
Most of nice restaurants in Maceio city are located at the neighborhood Jatiúca. The Maceio’s cook is based mainly in seafood, and fish from rivers and lakes. The local cook is very influenced by the native cook, and the cooking styles from French, Italy and Peru. Some famous meals of the zone are “Peixada ao molho de tomate” (fish, tomato, rice), “Peixada Frita” (fried fish, beans, rice and salad), “Polvo ao Molho” (prawn, fried rice), “Caranguejada” (crab and fried rice), “Galinha Guisada”(chicken, beans, rice and salad), etc.
Near “Mandaú” lake and “Pajuçara” beach , there are several nice places to enjoy a delicious meal. These restaurants offer also the popular “caipirinha”, which is the symbol drink of the country. There, you can also enjoy an “Oyster soup” or an “Oyster omelet”, delicious meals, which are very good and cheap in Maceio; since here oysters abound.
Brasil has also excellent steaks; a nice place to enjoy them is “Spettus” an excellent and cheap restaurant at northern “Pajuçara” beach at 1911 “Roberth Kennedy” avenue. Near “Spettus” at 2167 of the same street is “Gstaad”, a nice French restaurant, where you can get the best salmon dishes of the city; the other famous French restaurant in the city is “Le Corbu”, a sophisticated place, decorated with beautiful paintings located at 877 “Desp. Humberto Guimaraes”. Other excellent restaurant is “Mizu”, this beautiful place is specialized in Japanese food and is located at 1731 “Robert Kennedy” avenue. But, if you prefer the Chinese food, Nova China is probably the right place; at the same street (“Jangadeiros Alagoanos”) is “Recanto do Picui” a good place to enjoy a delicious slice beef.
Another excellent place to eat is “Akuaba” a good restaurant specializes in Bahian cooking; it is located at 6 “Álvaro Calheiros” avenue. In “Lua Cheia” you will find a romantic ambient with nice music and excellent food; it is located at 101-AL Northern, Km 14.
One of the best restaurant in the city is “Wanchako” a Peruvian restaurant situated at 93 “Sao Francisco de Assis” street; where you can find the most famous meals from the Peruvian food; probably the best of South America and one of the most famous in the World.
