Milan experiences a Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and fairly mild winters, meaning the weather can be nice at any time of the year. Summers are generally very hot and winters cold and wet, with average daily temperatures reaching 28°C in July and August, and 6°C in January.

Summer
Summers can be uncomfortable in Milan due to the incessant heat and high humidity in August. July and August are naturally the hottest months, with shade temperatures hovering around 30°C during these months. As a result, many locals leave Milan for cooler pastures or tend to remain indoors.

Spring and autumn
Temperatures are lower in the spring and autumn than in the summer and the months from April to June and September to October are usually quite pleasant. There is generally greater accommodation availability during these times of the year.

Winter
The wintertime (November to February) is the quietest time in Milan, although the temperature is stilly fairly mild and there is plenty of sunshine. However, fog and bitter winds are quite common and there is also more rain during this time of the year.
