Close up, however, Florence is one of Italy's most atmospheric and pleasant, retaining a strong resemblance to the small late-medieval centre that contributed so much to the cultural and political development of Europe.

When to go
The best time to visit Florence is in the low season, from April to June and in September/October, when the weather is usually good, prices are lower and there are fewer tourists - if you come in July or August, expect a Renaissance Disneyland experience and plenty of sweat in your socks.
Early winter, in December, can also be surprisingly pleasant, with crisp air and sunny days and far, far fewer people clogging up the piazzas.
Learning Italian in Florence is a very popular option, and when you go there you’ll realise why. The locals are usually pretty friendly people, have very good customer service, and when you take an Italian course in one of the private language schools, your whole day can be planned to help you optimise your time.

Our school in Florence occupies an entire 3 floor building and has 18 spacious and luminous classrooms. The ground floor is dedicated to the recreational area where you can read the newspapers, have a coffee with your fellow students or do your homework.
