About Florence
|

|

The cultural and historical impact of Florence (or Firenze) is overwhelming.
Close up, however, Florence is one of Italy's most atmospheric and pleasant, retaining a strong resemblance to the small late-medieval centre that contributed so much to the cultural and political development of Europe.
It was here that artists such as Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci lived and worked, as did poets such as Dante and Boccaccio.
As a cultural heritage from these times, Florence possesses a wealth of monuments and works of art, which make every stay in the city an unforgettable experience.
Florence is not just a beautiful city full of art, history and culture, but is also one of the most important business centres of Italy where many small and medium enterprises, as well as large multinational corporations, produce advanced products from fashion to handicrafts, from machinery to high technology.
The Chianti area, between Florence and Siena, is one of the most beautiful countrysides in Italy and a famous wine production area.
Florence and its surroundings offer a nearly unlimited variety of leisure activities, which our students might undertake by themselves.
We offer leisure activities as well and organise on a regular basis.

When to go
The best time to visit Florence is in the low season, from April to June and in September/October, when the weather is usually good, prices are lower and there are fewer tourists - if you come in July or August, expect a Renaissance Disneyland experience and plenty of sweat in your socks.
Early winter, in December, can also be surprisingly pleasant, with crisp air and sunny days and far, far fewer people clogging up the piazzas.

Learning Italian in Florence is a very popular option, and when you go there you’ll realise why. The locals are usually pretty friendly people, have very good customer service, and when you take an Italian course in one of the private language schools, your whole day can be planned to help you optimise your time.
