Wimbledon Museum



Located in London’s southwest, the Wimbledon Museum contains one of the world’s greatest collections of tennis memorabilia. Many items are of immense historical importance and some, not least the Championship Trophies, are unique.

The Museum also reflects the current game, the champions of today, and hopes to excite the interest of the champions of tomorrow. There are views of Centre Court, an Art Gallery and a new audio-visual theatre which allows people to experience great matches once again.


Wimbledon Windmill Museum



It was built by a Roehampton carpenter in 1817 to serve the local community. Before this, there were already large mills on River Mandle but the local residents did not trust factory produced flour and their wanted to grind their own wheat.

Located on Wimbledon Common, the museum depicts the history and development of windmills in Britain. Many working models, windmill machinery, equipment and tools.

Wimbledon Windmill is a very unusual mill non doubt a rare example of a hollow post mill. It has a two storey octagonal brick base, which house all the working machinery. Above this, a conical tower which house the post supporting the cap on which the sails are mounted.


Wimbledon Society Museum of Local History



The museum displays the Wimbledon history from Stone Age to present days in words, pictures and objects. Doors open every Saturday and Sunday from 2:30 to 5:00 pm or by appointment at other times. The admission is free.

The museum houses permanent exhibits of life forms, organised from simplest organisms and vertebrates up to birds and mammals. Both fossil and currently living species are represented in the collection on display. In addition, the museum shows temporary exhibits, made to illustrate a particular scientific or zoological theme.
